Do You Want to Go on a Date? | 2011-10-17
Listen guys, I wouldn't say I'm exactly the cock-of-the-walk, but I do alright. And whether I'm qualified to or not, I'm going to lay down a dating rule. This one's for the boys.
I'll start off with a question: Why do you ask a girl if she wants to "hang out sometime"? Sure, she might know what you mean. It's pretty obvious. Why would you be talking to her if you didn't want to bang her? Right?
I get it, and I agree with you (not really), but why do we have to rely on uncertainty? Most people, when being hit on, like the person to be straightforward with their intentions. At least, that's the way I like to look at it.
I'm not going to give you dating tips because I don't know any. I'm just petitioning a change in vernacular. Instead of weakly inquiring as to whether she wants to, "hang out sometime," state your intentions: "Do you want to go on a date with me?" Or maybe if you're feeling confident: "Let's go on a date." That's pretty cool. That's one step removed from, "Let's fuck," which would be incredibly awesome if you could pull off.
I know it's always easier said than done, but if you can't pull the trigger then, when will you be able? At least if you can get these words out you can be shot down completely, and move on to someone else.
